The New York City Mayoral election was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. The city that never sleeps was abuzz with excitement as residents headed to the voting booths to cast a vote for their next mayor.
In a groundbreaking victory, Zohran Mamdani won the election and made headlines as the youngest mayor the city has seen since the early 1980s.
As one of our most active cities in the US, an election like this has a substantial effect on visits to Pornhub. So, when our friends at The New York Post asked our statisticians to pull some data, they were eager to analyze it and see what impact the action had on New Yorker’s browsing habits!
New York City Hourly Traffic
Traffic to the site remained below average throughout the morning until 10am. It reached its lowest point in the morning around 8am, when traffic was –14% below average. From 10am to 2pm, it remained slightly above average before traffic began to descend.

By 4pm, traffic was –13% below average and continued to steadily decline until 10pm, when traffic to the site had dropped an enormous –41%. 10pm is a prime time for nightly visits to Pornhub, so this accounts for a large number of users.
Traffic remained below average well into the early morning hours of November 5th.
Election Day Search Interests
So, what were New Yorkers searching for on Election Day? Much like the diversity of the city itself, top search terms showed a wide variety of interests and tastes!
The most noticeable to our statisticians was the search term “big butt” which was up a whopping +957% above average. The term “point of view” was the second highest, at +546%, followed by “big dick reaction” at +482%.

Other boosts in search terms include “parking lot” at +266% above average, “cooking” at +253%, “nerdy” at +220%, “shameless” at +204%, and “airport security” at +118%.
Traffic Changes by Demographic
What about the differences in gender? Looking at the data, our statisticians found male and female traffic both had drops in the –40% range, with female traffic dropping –45% below average at 9pm, and male traffic dropping –42% at 10pm.

Interestingly, there were also contrasted times for the genders. Male traffic was –15% below average at 8am, whereas female traffic was up +4% at the same time. At 6pm, female traffic was down –3% while male traffic was up +12%. And then again at 2am, male traffic was down –27% while female traffic was only down –3%.
Looking into the age demographics also showed some particularly interesting results in this election. Observing the differences between the 18-35 age group and the 35+ age group, it appears the 18-35 age group were more willing to give up their daily visit to Pornhub to get out and vote.

They were also more likely to skip Pornhub in the evening in order to follow the election results. Between 6pm and 1am, traffic from the 18-35 age group fell further below average compared to their older counterparts. Their lowest point was at 10pm, when traffic dropped to –39%, while the 35+ group saw a smaller decrease of –32% for the same time period.
Traffic Changes by the Borough
Looking into how traffic differed between the five boroughs, our statisticians found Brooklyn had the biggest drop of evening traffic, down –35% below average, while Staten Island had the lowest drop of evening traffic, at –15%.
During the day, traffic to Pornhub was up +3% in Manhattan, and down the most in Staten Island, where it was –4% below average.
